Portal Design Problems

When I add a Tab to an existing Tab Layout (inside another Layout), the Tab Header doesn't change colour.
When I place Fields onto a Tab, they're oftentimes hidden - why?
Some newly placed Fields appear in all Tabs, why?
Why isn't it easily possible to show all the Fields in the Portal?
It shows a blank Record in the Portal!
I tried solving the problem by copying the exact measurements of other Portals in other Tabs on the same Layout:
Distance from Top and from Left of the Tab, Portal size, Field size, Font size - still not solved!
